This article is about top five worst food fads. It icludes; Fusion, Fro-yo(sort of a green tea frozen yogurt), Atkins diet, no-transfat and Bacon. However, What I find intersting is the bacon. It got my attention not only for its wonderful flavor, but also for its ability to trigger a good fat belly laugh! Whether one is a fat belly or healthy eater, no one can denied the goodness of a golden crispy strip of pork. I don't think bacon itself is a food fad;in fact, it is here to stay. However, I believe that the many fashionable ways that bacon have been cooked and served are absolutely faddish. For example, Chocolate Bacon Icecream, Bacon Basket Weave(pork sauge wrapped up in bacon and smoke for 2hrs,a combination of 5,000 calories and 500 grams of fat) Now, how much more reckless can one get with his or her heart? Chocolate with bacon and pork sausage with bacon are definitely dangerous combination; One might as well stuff his or her arteries with shortning. That is why dihses like these are just fads, they creat buzz and quick revenue. Thank goodness, their popularities are short lived. Anyway, check out the link to the recipe for Bacon explosion. Clik on the Bacon Basket Weave. It looks dangerously delicious! Hey, life is short; live a little and remember moderation is the key.

This article was pretty interesting due to the fact that many of these fads have been around for a very long time. I also do not think that these foods are not fads. For example fro-yo has been around for many years now and so has bacon. Sure we dont consume plethora amounts of these items, they dont seem to be coming off the shelves. Most of these items are delicious and in the long run will probably be around for a while.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading this article. There were many fads which i remember living through and seeing them fade out. Especially the bacon fad. I was never a big fan of it but there are people that appreciate the taste of bacon with unusual flavors. I feel that most fads come out and they will stay as long as people feel like they are needed.
ReplyDeleteThank you for not bashing the bacon because I lovvvvvvvvvvvvve it especially thick cut so you get 8 strips per pound instead of 10/12/14. I do agree that many of the fads listed are 100% fads and will not last because they confuse the real natural beauty of pork fat and smoke. A good example is when I previously worked at a Country club we hosted many wine dinners with tasting menus, a guest chef was invited and our staff had to prepare his menu ideas. His idea for a classy dinner was to incorporate bacon lolipops, yes I said bacon lolipops dunked in an inverted sugar that are Pastry chef got the responsibility dumped on him by our Chef. They were coated thin and all 50 were thrown in the garbage due to the fact that it was innovative but all the bacon flavor was lost and it could pull your fillings out of your teeth. Overall that fad didn't even last long enough to touch the customers plate or palate and I feel that is the destiny of the rest of these bacon fads.
