Taco Bell Diet?

This article is about how taco bell now has a diet menu. A women named Christine Dougherty said she lost 54 pounds just by eating Taco Bell's tacos, and burritos. She cut her daily calorie and fat intake by 500. Taco Bell is not the first fast food chain to promote healthy eating. McDonald's cut their super size, added salads and gave away pedometers. Subway showcases Jared for his weightloss, that all he ate was sandwiches that were 9 grams of fat. All in all fast food is bad for you even if they try to cut the fat and calories out of it.

I think that this is a fad because so many other fast food chains have tried to go healthy but its just not what they were born to do. Many people feel like they can go all out at a fast food chain and many don't even bother looking at the salad menus.

  1. This article was very interesting that Taco Bell contests that a women could loose a large amount of weight by eating strictly Taco Bell items. These items such as tacos and burritos seem extremely fattening and I wonder how many people this diet could actually work for. These marketing tactics for large corporations to glorify that their prodcuts can be the main form of sustainence in someones diet seems a bit illusive and deceptive like the diet pill commercials that encourage large weight loss drastically. Also despite the weight loss Taco Bell claimed on their test subject I am inquisitive to her organ and liver health as well as vitamin deficiencies after being regimented this diet for an extended period of time.

  2. When I first heard about this "Taco Bell Drive Thru Diet," I was immediately convinced that it was going to be a bad idea. The idea of fast food is getting food to the consumer fast, with any means possible. So if a fast food franchise, such as Taco Bell, begins a diet as a consumer I wonder what kind of things they are putting into it, not only to cook it quick, but to make it healthy. I believe that this diet will be like any other diet plans that have come out in America, and fail.

  3. the situation with Jared and Subway was a unique one, and cannot be duplicated. Of course, others fast food chain like Mc Donald, Burger King and the likes would want to jump on the healthy eating bandwagon. This going healthy is a stunt that fast food chain used to draw in customers. In the case of Taco Bell, they have not been in the spotlight since the tainted beef scare a few years ago. These fast food chains are not in the business of dieting. And I am sure they are aware of the fact that they are no Jenny Graig or Weight Watchers so they enjoy the profit while it last; or until their next marketing scheme.
